Fleet management and positioning for air vehicles

Automatic position reporting, ubiquitous digital air-ground communication and state-of-the-art data management technologies make air fleet operation safer and more efficient. Many years of experience in technology, research and development projects – hand in hand with our customers – have created our CNS/ATM competence. And Funkwerk Avionics GmbH is an EASA-approved production organisation for avionics equipment. Therefore our onboard equipment complies with aviation standards.

Our AeroFleet system is the optimal solution for operators of small and medium size aircraft and helicopter fleets. Digital air-ground communication provides the basis for efficient fleet management. State-of-the-art fleet management applications enable the dispatch personal to achieve effective and cost saving operations. The onboard Multi Function Display CDTI-2000 supports the flight crew to conduct a safe and effective mission.

The AeroFleet solution is the perfect management tool for fleet operators like
· Executive Charter
· Air-Taxi & Transport
· Medical & Ambulance
· Search and Rescue
· Coast Guard
· Fire Fighting
· Law Enforement
· Aero Clubs
who want to make best use of their “flying resources”.

The AeroFleet system features:
· Local and Global Communications
· Digital Two-Way Ground-Air Messaging
· Position Reporting
· Navigation
· Airborne Mission Management
· Ground-Based Fleet Management
· Mission Planning and Fleet Monitoring

With our AeroFleet Airport solution, the benefits of aircraft surveillance are now available for airport or special airfield operations in the form of a low-cost, scalable traffic monitoring system.

The system is based on the standardized Mode S 1090 MHz Extended Squitter format, thus supporting the reception and depiction of ADS-B position reports from respectively equipped aircraft.

ADS-B is an air traffic surveillance technology that is expected to substantially contribute to ATC surveillance and separation capabilities at a comparatively low cost. Each ADS-B equipped aircraft - or ground vehicle - broadcasts its precise position via a digital data link along with other data, including speed and status information.

ADS-B also works at low altitudes and on the ground. A network of ADS-B receiver stations enables the monitoring of traffic during ground operations, covering the entire airport area. Ground vehicles can now also be equipped with ADS-B, including the option to display traffic information to the driver. This availability of coherent real-time surveillance information for airborne and ground based traffic can significantly improve safety and enhance operational capacity, especially in adverse weather conditions.

The AeroFleet Airport system comprises ADS-B transmitters for aircraft and ground vehicle installation, a ground based ADS-B receiver network, a client/server architecture for storage and distribution of surveillance data, a client application that visualises the traffic situation on suitable airport maps, and - optionally - mobile ADS-B receivers and displays that provide traffic information to operators of ground vehicles. Via the integrated ASTERIX Cat 21 interface, the system can also forward surveillance data to Air Traffic Control. Likewise, external Surveillance Data can be imported via the ASTERIX Cat 21 interface and shown on the AeroFleet Airport Clients.
